Being Completely Human
The Completely Human Philosophy
“Be a life long or short, its completeness depends on what it was lived for”
David Starr Jordan
Do you also feel that you are wandering along a path of trying to be ‘something’ or ‘somebody’ but you’re not really sure, who or what? We seem to spin our wheels trying to be okay with it all. The sayings like ‘we’re all perfect’ and “there’s a reason for everything” seem to become clich’e.
We’re preconditioned to be perfect only to disappointed ourselves when we realise that we’re Only Human – but, ironically as we evolve, we learn that, that in itself can be perfection. Perfection comes with being complete. Complete within ourselves. Complete in our interactions with the environment – And with others.
The knowledge that we’re perfectly complete doesn’t protect us from daily challenges, struggles, rewards and joys however. It makes us able to appreciate them instead. Also – importantly, we absorb and appreciate that the journey from “Only Human” to “Completely Human” equates to a journey from limitation, to glorious opportunity!
But – what do we mean by “completeness”? I believe we carry our own unique collection of balloons with us through life. Each balloon represents an area or need in our life, namely finances, career, love, friends, wellness (health & exercise), spiritual, family and community. As we naturally progress and get older, the quantity of balloons we keep aloft expands or intensifies. Or, rather, this should happen. Unless we remain isolated or insulated!
Wonderfully, however, this increase in the number of balloons doesn’t cause the original balloons to become obsolete. Through discipline the originals are now the inherent areas of family, food and health. The beauty of getting older and wiser incorporates the expansion and/or diversification of our human-ness into further needs: friends, career, spirituality, personal development. For balance and completion we need to grasp how each new balloon translates into the accompanying responsibilities and rewards for each. But, sadly, before we know it, we find ourselves trying to juggle these precarious balloons above our head. To the extent that it can feel like a constant struggle! We instinctively know we have to keep them equally aloft, if we want to remain on the ground, feeling stable.
It’s therefore our challenge as adults to ensure that all our balloons are constantly flying high ensuring that overall balance is maintained. This is what we call being Perfectly Complete. And Completely Perfect.
Achieving the completeness we seek, namely being in touch- and well grounded with all our individual balloons is both a difficult art and discipline. We start with acknowledging each balloon with its unique place in our lives. Then the hard work to keep them all afloat constantly begins. If we don’t hang onto our balloons they will fly away from us. Or deflate and fall.
What we hope to achieve through our organisation, Completely Human, is to enable you to understand your personally created collection of balloons – and thereafter to develop you into your realm of perfect completeness.
