Nutrition Tips

  • Try and eat 3-4 pieces of fresh fruit a day. This helps keep your blood sugar levels even. This helps to provide more consistent energy, moods and concentration.
  • Try and include as much raw or lightly cooked food as you can. Cooking can change the molecular structure of your food and this can destroy valuable nutrients.
  • Include plenty of whole foods: whole grains, lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, fresh fruit & vegetables. It’s better to grill, steam, boil or bake your food. Avoid frying. Try and eat more fish than meat – But include 2 servings of protein per day
  • Make your carbohydrates the slow-releasing version (whole grains, vegetables& fresh fruits)
  • Don’t forget your fibre! Fibre absorbs water in the digestive tract, making the content bulkier and easier to pass through. This prevents constipation. Good sources of fibre include: oats, lentils, beans, seeds, fruits & lightly cooked vegetables
  • Latest research (and this has become the trend) reports that it’s better and healthier to eat smaller portions more often, than only eating 2-3 meals a day. As you’re well aware by now - Breakfast is a main meal requirement. This has been proven to assist with weight loss and sustained energy during the day
  • The earlier you eat dinner the better – or at the least give your digestion at least 2 hours before going to bed
  • Chewing your food thoroughly. Mastication is an important of the digestion process as it helps digestion and prevents ulcers.
  • Also – as you’re well aware by now - the ideal required daily water intake is two litres
  • Try and avoid too much coffee – rather boost your energy and mental concentration with a fruit or nut snack.
  • Your metabolism can work for you instead of against you. Things like exercise, eating every few hours and the right kinds of food (obviously) can increase metabolism.
  • It helps to drink water, when drinking alcohol. This assists in preventing dehydration.
